Following Intuition Rather Than Rules

Learning to trust what quietly calls to you.
When people discover that I work with crystals, one of the questions I'm asked most often is:
"Which crystal should I buy?"
It's a perfectly natural question, but my answer usually surprises people.
I don't think anyone else can truly choose a crystal for you.
Of course, books are wonderful. Teachers have valuable knowledge to share, and researching the properties of crystals can be fascinating. Over the years I've collected books, including The Crystal Bible, and I still enjoy reading about the different stones and their qualities.
But my own journey has always unfolded a little differently.
Rather than reading about a crystal and then deciding to buy it, I find myself drawn to one first. Only afterwards do I discover its meaning.
Time and time again, I've realised that the crystal I chose seemed to reflect exactly what was happening in my life at that moment.
Sometimes I needed calm.
Sometimes I needed courage.
Sometimes I was working through grief, healing or personal growth.
Without consciously searching for it, the crystal I was attracted to seemed to hold the qualities I needed most.
Coincidence?
Perhaps.
Or perhaps our intuition quietly knows more than we realise.
Building My Collection
Over the years my collection has slowly grown.
I don't buy crystals simply to collect them.
Each one has arrived during a particular season of my life.
Some remind me of moments of healing.
Others remind me of times when I needed strength or clarity.
I have a wonderful crystal supplier who has become a trusted guide over the years. Every visit feels less like shopping and more like discovering another small piece of the journey.
One thing I've noticed is that I'm especially drawn to raw crystals.
There is something about their natural form that speaks to me.
They're beautifully imperfect.
Untouched.
Exactly as nature created them.
Of course, I also own polished crystals, and they're beautiful too. But the raw stones have always held a special place in my heart.
Even while travelling, I seem to stumble across crystal shops. I remember finding some beautiful little gems during a visit to Scotland. They came home with me, not because I had planned to buy them, but because they seemed to find me.
If I could offer one gentle piece of advice, it would simply be this:
Don't let someone else tell you what you need.
Instead, begin by becoming quiet.
If there's something you're facing in your life, perhaps take a moment before entering a crystal shop.
Ask yourself...
"What do I need today?"
Or perhaps ask your Higher Self, your Spirit Guides or your angels for a little guidance.
Then simply look.
Walk slowly.
Notice which crystal catches your attention.
Which one seems brighter than the others?
Which one feels impossible to ignore?
If you're able to hold it, notice how it feels in your hand.
Don't rush to read the label.
Don't immediately search online.
Just notice.
Sometimes our intuition speaks in whispers rather than words.
The more we learn to listen, the easier it becomes to trust ourselves.

Following the Quiet Voice
The same has happened with my oracle cards.
Some of the decks I've chosen haven't been the most popular or well-known. In fact, one of my favourite decks later became unavailable and went out of print.
I had no idea when I bought it.
I simply felt drawn to it.
Looking back, I realised I had trusted my intuition without even knowing it.
Perhaps that's the real lesson.
Life gently places people, experiences and even crystals in front of us when we're ready.
Our job isn't to understand everything immediately.
Sometimes it's simply to notice.
And trust.
In my next blog, I'd like to share how crystals gradually became part of my meditation practice, supported my healing journey and unexpectedly accompanied me through the creation of my healing cards.
Until then, may you continue to trust the quiet voice within.
With love,
Carmela
