As the countdown to a long-awaited holiday begins, so does the overwhelm. Whether you're managing toddlers, teenagers, adult children, or elderly parents — or just yourself — the anticipation of rest can paradoxically become a source of stress.

We’ve spent the entire year dreaming of this break. We’ve envisioned peace, joy, relaxation, and a chance to recharge. And yet, as we prepare, anxiety creeps in. There are bags to pack, schedules to arrange, work to finish, and so much more. The planning, the organising, the "what if I forget something?" spiral, it all adds up.


This is the holiday overwhelm we don’t talk about enough. And the truth is, it's incredibly common.


If you're a busy parent, a business owner, or someone who simply doesn't know how to "switch off," this pressure can steal the joy from what should be a sacred pause in your year.


But here’s the thing: It doesn’t have to.


💫 One Simple Habit: Create Space Before You Go


Before you take off, gift yourself 20 quiet minutes.


Sit down, alone. Breathe. Write, colour, or simply close your eyes and reflect.


Ask yourself:


  • How do I want to feel on this trip?

  • What can I let go of now, before I leave?

  • What does my soul need to experience to reset and reconnect?


You don't need to do it perfectly. You just need to be present.


That’s it. That small, intentional pause before you travel will shift your mindset from chaos to calm. And it will help you live your holiday, not just plan it.
